About the Business
SP&Architects was established in 1970 by Ian Shuttleworth and we have since created a diverse portfolio of projects for our many and varied clients. Although we have sought to maintain a broad sector-base with experience of most building types, the core architectural, environmental and social values that underpin our work remain constant. We have particular experience in the retail, commercial and social housing fields with other building types including industrial, warehousing, care homes, car showrooms, private housing and leisure.
In 2002, Ian Picknett became the Senior Partner joined by David Hodgson and Nigel Peacock - and with a dedicated and committed staff, the practice was awarded 'Investors in People' status in 2004.
In 2007, SP&Architects merged with Edwin Trotter Architects which brought substantial experience of the social housing sector to the practice, in particular involvement with Lifetime Homes and Extra Care Housing.
